DEEP
Overview
UNDP - DEEP program seeks "to improve the living conditions of depressed and deprived Palestinian families and so to contribute to a revitalized Palestinian economy through supporting self-employment and micro-enterprise development as means to reduce unemployment, achieve higher economic growth and reduce poverty."
CCE Role
CCE is a consulting partner of the program responsible for capacity-building of all national stakeholders. Specifically, we provided the following to the DEEP program:
- Development of the Palestinian model for household poverty assessment and development of economic interventions fitting the household’s human and physical capitals (a model for East Jerusalem was developed separately)
- Training and coaching of local NGOs and ministries (Ministry of Social Affairs; Ministry of Planning; Ministry of National Economics; Ministry of Labor) on applying the poverty reduction model
- Development of the DEEP Program document and strategy
- DEEP program organizational structuring
- Assisting local NGOs – DEEP partners in establishing business development units and building capacity of the units staff
- Capacity-building of DEEP staff
- Assessment of the DEEP economic and social impact on 3,000 poor households in East Jerusalem, West Bank, and Gaza
- Training of 600 entrepreneurs from poor households on how to manage a small enterprise
- Mentoring of enterprises established by DEEP to enhance their sustainability
- Development of a methodology and manual for economic empowerment of entrepreneurs with disabilities, for MOSA fieldworkers
- Development of a methodology and manual for economic empowerment of women – MOSA beneficiaries
- Development of the referral system for poor households
- Development of the referral system for people with special needs
