Sixty three graduates celebrated the completion of a seven-month teacher training program organized by Birzeit University’s Center for Continuing Education together with Finance for Jobs Consulting Services, a firm focused on addressing youth unemployment in Palestine, in a ceremony held on campus on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. 

On Wednesday, July 14, the Center for Continuing Education held a consultative meeting on “Data for Human Rights and Social Justice.” The workshop was attended by representatives of Palestinian human rights institutions, in addition to the Data for Development project team at the Center for Continuing Education.

The Continuing Education Center at Birzeit University celebrates the graduation of the first batch of the specialized professional program: “Applied Journey in Data Science,” which targets young graduates and workers in Palestine from information technology and other science disciplines, and is implemented by the Center with the support of the Canadian International Development Research Center (IDRC).

Birzeit University’s Center for Continuing Education launched an initiative titled learn2elearn to address knowledge gaps and provide the skills necessary to conduct online classrooms to teaching and academic staff of Palestinian education institutions in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

Birzeit University’s Center for Continuing Education (CCE) and the Palestinian Ministry of Education held a symposium to discuss the center’s Experiential Learning Objects (xLOBs) project, which aims to create an interactive, participatory learning environment in Palestinian classrooms, on March 2, 2020.  

Birzeit University’s Center for Continuing Education (CCE) held an extensive workshop to present the outcomes of a study on the opportunities and challenges faced by the data economy in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). This workshop comes as part of the center’s “Steps toward the future of businesses” project, implemented in collaboration with the International Development Research Center (IDRC).

 The Center for Continuing Education at Birzeit University and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education are preparing to launch the experiential learning objects (xLOBs) in more than 300 schools, starting at the beginning of the academic year 2019/20. The project will target 500,000 students in primary and upper schools.

The Center for Continuing Education at Birzeit University, together with the Palestinian Ministry of Education, recently launched the Experiential Learning Objects Program in over 100 schools in all Palestinian governorate. 

Learning objects project combines creativity, life skills, and citizenship education in engaging lesson plans

Birzeit University signed an agreement with UNICEF to develop and implement the second phase of the Life Skills and Citizenship Education Initiative for primary-level students (1st-4th grades). The primary mechanism for the agreement, which was signed on March 22, 2018, is integrating and executing learning objects – specially designed lessons that incorporate life skills and active citizenship into school curricula.

The Center for Continuing Education at Birzeit University, in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education, held a two-day workshop to develop learning objects in math and physics for 7th-10th grades. The workshop was held on March 12-13, 2018, and was attended by specialized teams that included supervisors, instructors, learning and technology designers, and gender specialists.

The Center for Continuing Education at Birzeit University, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and UNICEF, launched the first phase of the Experiential Learning Objects (xLOBs) for grades 1 through 4 in a symposium entitled, “Integrating Life-Skills and Citizenship Education into Basic Educational Systems.” The symposium, which aims to create an interactive, participatory learning environment, was held on February 7, 2018.
