Center for Continuing Education

A dynamic and responsive center constantly engaged in exploration and innovation

The Center for Continuing Education (CCE) was established in 1991 as a community outreach program arm of Birzeit University in Palestine. Although we are part of the University organizational structure and we have access to the wealth of resources the University has to offer, yet we are not bound by the academic structures of the University, which has positioned us as a dynamic and responsive center constantly engaged in exploration and innovation - able to adapt quickly and respond to the quickly changing landscape on the ground. We focus on four parallel strategic programs and services.

CCE Statement on transparency and accountability

CCE operates in a highly transparent and accountable manner.  The decision making process within the Center is carried out in a participatory manner (through a management team), and in close consultation with the staff.  A knowledge management system provides all relevant information about all CCE operations within access to all relevant stakeholders.  As part of Birzeit University, audited financial reports, regulations and bylaws are publically available.

CCE is one of the extension units of Birzeit University, as such, it runs its operations in accordance with Birzeit University policies and procedures. BZU has well established procedures for human resources management, procurement and financial management. Those procedures are based on a combination of relevant national and international standards and best practices. Day-to-day operations of these three functions are supported by an integrated computerized management information system, which provides for effective, efficient and transparent performance.

Moreover, CCE has developed an integrated Quality Assurance System to maintain operations, efficiency, and meet clients’ needs. This system adapts to the content of each project and assures - not only that the goals, objectives, and results are met - but also that clients, consultants, and professional institutions keep a positive souvenir and benefit from the experience. The objective is to achieve an excellent, and nothing less, outcomes of projects. Information must circulate properly to all participants and steps are realized to the satisfaction of all concerned parties.

We design, develop, test, scale, and implement the dissemination of innovative, successful, and localized models and methodologies that generate best possible results in the local fragile context through supporting the growth of our educational sector, businesses, governmental Institutions, non-governmental, and community-based organizations across Palestine, with a special focus on those that are rurally based, youth-focused, and female-managed.

Our mandate is not limited to the external community. CCE is also engaged in extra and co-curricular programs within the University community that serve to empower students and also link them with the community outside.

All the Center’s units partner with international donors to bring their services to a wider community and beneficiaries. Explore our Current Projects.
